Dear Friend of Women Business Owners -
The National Women's Business Council, in support of the woman-focused Global Diversity Initiative (GDI) of the US Department of Commerce, would like to let you know about an upcoming listening/information tour being scheduled in several US cities in August, September, and October.  Many of your members, constituents, and colleagues may be interested in attending one of these events.  Below are details and dates and ways in which your organization can participate.

Going global, generally considered the domain of large corporations offers great potential for businesses of all sizes and types, especially women-owned businesses.  The last decade has seen significant growth for women-owned business.  At the same time, the U.S. Government has aggressively pursued trade liberalization to open the doors to new markets for U.S. business.  With the growth of women-owned business and new opportunities opening up world wide, now is an opportune time for women business owners to consider taking their business international.

How to get started?  Where and how to expand current exporting activities?  The U.S. Department of Commerce's new Global Diversity Initiative (GDI) is embarking on an aggressive outreach campaign to increase awareness among women's business enterprises of the benefits of trade, of trade opportunities, and various trade assistance programs.  Their goal is to ensure that women-owned businesses are aware of the resources available to enhance their export performance and to help them enter foreign markets and succeed in the global economy.

Here's how your organization can help:
1.  Share the information with your members, chapter leaders and/or colleagues in these locations
2.  Consider nominating any of your members/colleagues who are already actively engaged in international to be considered for an "Export Achievement Award" which they are considering presenting at some of the aforementioned venues.
